Linking Distributed and Integrated Fiber?Optic Sensing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) has become a popular method of observing seismic wavefields: backscattered pulses light reveal strains or strain rates at any location along fiber-optic cable. In contrast, few newer systems transmit through cable and collect integrated phase delays over the entire cable, such as Microwave Frequency Fiber Interferometer (MFFI). These can be deployed significantly longer distances, may used in conjunction with live telecommunications, cheaper. However, they provide only single time series representing length fiber. This work discusses theoretically how distributed system quantitatively compared, we note that sensitivity depends strongly on points curvature. Importantly, this presents first results quantitative, head-to-head comparison DAS MFFI using pre-existing telecommunications fibers Athens, Greece.

Linking remote sensing, land cover and disease.
Land cover is a critical variable in epidemiology and can be characterized remotely. A framework is used to describe both the links between land cover and radiation recorded in a remotely sensed image, and the links between land cover and the disease carried by vectors. The framework is then used to explore the issues involved when moving from remotely sensed imagery to land cover and then to v...

VOLUME 16, NUMBER 2, 2007 LINCOLN LABORATORY JOURNAL 237 T he history of remote sensing is intimately entangled with supporting military decision making through the processes of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR). While the principles of military intelligence are ancient [1, 2], the application of sensing technology to reconnaissance did not begin until the development of phot...
متن کاملInland wetlands mapping and vulnerability assessment using an integrated geographic information system and remote sensing techniques
The understanding of inland wetlands’ distribution and their level of vulnerability is important to enhance management and conservation efforts. The aim of the study was to map inland wetlands and assess their distribution pattern and vulnerability to natural and human disturbances such as climate change (temperature increase) and human activities by the year 2080. Inland wetland types i.e. for...
متن کاملDistributed and Cooperative Compressive Sensing Recovery Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks with Bi-directional Incremental Topology
Recently, the problem of compressive sensing (CS) has attracted lots of attention in the area of signal processing. So, much of the research in this field is being carried out in this issue. One of the applications where CS could be used is wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The structure of WSNs consists of many low power wireless sensors. This requires that any improved algorithm for this appli...
متن کاملDistributed Compressive Sensing
Compressive sensing is a signal acquisition framework based on the revelation that a small collection of linear projections of a sparse signal contains enough information for stable recovery. In this paper we introduce a new theory for distributed compressive sensing (DCS) that enables new distributed coding algorithms for multi-signal ensembles that exploit both intraand inter-signal correlati...
